SPECIFICATIONS:

NEW NOV. 2004 (NEVER PUT INTO PRODUCTION)
MORI SEIKI CONTROL
TOOL CHANGER CAPACITY: 180 ATC CAPTO C6 TOOLING
##NO HOLDERS WITH MACHINE
Turning capacity is up to 21.6" diameter by 40.15" and maximum swing
over bed is 33.46" diameter.
The main headstock is rated at 20/15 HP and has steplessly variable
speeds up to 4500 rpm.
The opposing headstock is rated at 10/7.5 and 6000 rpm.
C-axis rotational speed is up to 300 rpm.
MT2000, a programmable tailstock is supplied which has 5.9" of travel.
A fixed MT4 or live MT5 centre is fitted.
All versions feature the versatile machining head, which is mounted on
 a substantial carriage.
The carriage has 22.24" of travel (X1-axis) on a 10.236" wide guideway
 on the travelling column.
The column has 42.4" of travel (Z1-axis) on a 21.929" wide guideway.
A high precision servo-worm drive rotates the head through +/-120 deg
and is programmable in 0.001 deg increments and has a Y-axis travel of
 +/- 3.149".
Fast indexing time through 90 degrees is just 2 sec.
Rotational speeds of the machining head are up to 27 rpm (B-axis).
The head tool head can accept Sandvik Coromant Capto C6 or Kennametal
KM63 tooling exchanged by a double-arm toolchanger from a magazine.
Tool change time is 1.6 sec tool-to-tool and magazine capacities range
from basic 20 tools up to 180 tools.
Tool size is up to 4.9" diameter by 11" long.
The machining head can work at either headstock in the MT2000S
machine.
A lower 12-station turret, equipped with turning or live tooling, can
work at either headstock While operations are being performed by the
machining head.
The turret has an indexing time of 0.26 sec, station-to-station, and
travels of 6.10" (X2-axis) and 42" (Z2-axis).
The machine structure was designed using finite element analysis
resulting in a design that features a triangular bed and beefy
guideways. The headstocks and machining head are oil-cooled to help
maintain higher precision.
The CNC unit is the Mori Seiki MSG 501, which features full automatic
programming with graphic simulation and prompting.
It allows an operator to quickly build up a combined nine-axis program
for turning, boring, threading, milling, drilling, pattern drilling
and many other operations.

The CNC includes Mori Seiki's MAPPS operation management
